Production Manager
The Production Manager position is responsible for leading all operations in all aspects of associate safety, product quality, associate hiring, staffing, budgeting, planning equipment maintenance, setting a yearly strategy and achieving the necessary productivity from both departments as required to meet customer demands. Foster an environment that is prioritized in the order of Safety, Quality and Production. In the event of absence, these job responsibilities will be covered by employees in the Plant Manager role.

- The Production Manager is responsible for all associate aspects in terms of safety, annual reviews, staffing, hiring and potential terminations in the plant, and works in conjunction with and provides direction to the Production Supervisors for all associate aspects in terms of safety, annual reviews, staffing, hiring and potential terminations in the plant.
- Trains, guides, and assists associates in the successful execution of their roles. Coordinates training of new associates by assigning a qualified trainer and monitoring the timely completion and documentation of the training program. Works with Quality Assurance to make sure every associate in the department(s) is “Quality Certified” and completes any other job-related training.
- Responsible for plant budgets, annual budgeting process within the plant and the actual budget spend on a monthly basis. Monitors, inventories and purchases materials that are vital to production.
- Generates improvement ideas and embraces improvement projects to better the business. Leads KAIZEN Events in all department to meet safety, quality or productivity goals.
- Responsible for evaluating the department equipment routinely, working with maintenance to improve or repair equipment in the CMMS program as necessary to minimize unplanned downtime.
- Arrives regularly prior to their scheduled shift to review the production schedule, to review staffing issues, and to touch base with the prior Shift Leader for continuity (Shift-to-Shift Tie-In) and preparation for the communication huddles.
- Sustains and audits our core disciplines and holds associates accountable for compliance with all quality control, productivity, safety, housekeeping, scrap data input, and communication expectations and procedures.
- Insists that the associates under their supervision work proactively and with a sense of urgency utilizing the Set-Up / Start-Up Procedures to facilitate systematic and timely start-ups on production equipment.
- Drives strict compliance with all Quality Control procedures to make sure we are making product First Time Right, and assure consistency and limit our quality exposure throughout the run by continuously monitoring the process including auditing roll-to-roll checks.
- Administers progressive disciplinary procedures as required.
- Researches and presents new technology and equipment, and assists with cost justification of new equipment.
- Act as a backup for direct reports, when required, for critical activities required to serve the customers of PPC.
- Ensures that all responsibilities and functions performed are in accordance with company procedures and meet quality standards in place. Participate in quality programs and be aware of changes and standards within the systems.
- Perform other duties which may be assigned as part of the essential functions of the position.

- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college/university preferred. Engineering or manufacturing emphasis preferred.
- Five years or more experience in a supervisory/management/leadership position in an industrial production environment.
- Detail-orientation required for completing required paperwork and information system’s inputs with a high degree of accuracy.
- Knowledge of Windows computing programs and experience with business operating systems a must with some degree of proficiency required.
- Able to read and understand job tickets, and provide verbal direction to successfully complete procedures and required tasks.
- Capable of performing mathematical calculations, and properly using tape measures and micrometers.
- Flexibility in work assignments and priorities is required to address the dynamic needs of our customers and shifts in production requirements.
- Good verbal and written communication skills required, and proven experience with effective teams, project management, and continuous improvement methods strongly preferred.
