Clinical Lab QA Coordinator – Atrium Health Floyd
Role summary:
Coordinates and reviews quality management records within the Laboratory, oversees the document control system, proficiency testing, and manages the Laboratory Quality Assurance Program. Performs laboratory examinations and tests ensuring rapid and accurate results.
- Establishes, directs, maintains, and reviews the Laboratory Quality Assurance Program.
- Coordinates laboratory proficiency testing programs.
- Guides and assists on quality assurance issues including AABB, CAP, FDA, DNV inspections.
- Reviews accrediting agency requirements and guidelines for compliance.
- Performs under the laboratory’s Medical Laboratory Scientist major job functions when staffing requires, reports to the assigned section Technical Leader, and manages scheduled quality control.
- Participates in System QA committees, task forces, and activities.
- Maintains supply management for QA budget including accreditation expenses.
- Conducts monthly departmental Quality Management meetings.
- Oversees document control process for laboratory policies and procedures.
- Oversees incident review process for the laboratory.
Registration as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MT, MLS, CLT, CLS) by the Board of Registry (ASCP, AMT, AAB (15 years experience) or equivalent). If not registered, must be registry eligible – new hires must pass an approved certification exam within 12 months.
EducationHigh School or GED diploma. Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college/university with at least 30 quarter hours of lecture science, including 15 quarter hours of chemistry, 10 biology, 5 math.
ExperienceMinimum 4 years in a general laboratory setting.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities- Computer proficiency.
- Manual dexterity.
- Maintain patient confidentiality.
Use visual acuity for monitors and hard copies; hear and communicate verbally; sit up to 2 hours; operate office equipment; range of motion with 50-60# grip; forward, overhead reach; lift up to 10#.

Pay range: $32.45 – $48.70 per hour.
