Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Sector is seeking an Sr
EHS Professional/Certified Industrial Hygienist to join our Environmental, Health, Safety, and Fire Protection team at the Rolling Meadows site in Illinois
. The selected applicant will be responsible for successfully implementing certain occupational health and environmental programs and supporting safety programs at Rolling Meadows, IL in addition to implementing and managing EHS programs at sites in the RM area.

Key roles and responsibilities include:
  • Oversees the following occupational health programs: hearing conservation, respiratory protection, hazard communication, and non-ionizing radiation (lasers and radio frequency).

  • Laser and RF expert who works with our engineering teams to develop robust safety test plans.

  • Champions the chemical purchasing process at the Rolling Meadow sites.

  • Conducts qualitative and quantitative hazard assessments to include exposure monitoring for physical and chemical agents.

  • Creates and updates Job Hazards Analyses which include personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe operating procedures.

  • Completes industrial and office ergonomic evaluations to reduce risk factors that cause musculoskeletal disorders.

  • Develops, implements, and maintains EHS programs for several sites to ensure compliance, injury prevention, and risk mitigation.

  • Conducts internal compliance inspections and identifies actions necessary to meet regulatory requirements.

  • Reviews and interprets existing and proposed environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations to determine applicability and impact for sites.

  • Partners with engineers, scientists, and management to support the integration of EHS into the design of new or altered processes and operations and building construction projects.

  • Works to continuously improve the culture, awareness and accountability of EHS programs.

  • Interfaces with regulatory representatives, senior management, site personnel, and sector program managers.

  • Partners with engineering and operations to review new chemical uses and requirements.

  • Ability to do timely injury and near miss program investigations.

  • Prevention of any Serious Injury or Fatality (SIF), an incident or near miss that results in or has the potential to produce a fatal or life-altering injury or illness.

Additional roles and responsibilities may include:
  • Provides timely and accurate submission of necessary reports to internal stakeholders, electronic databases, and regulatory agencies.

  • Writes and updates EHS plans and procedures.

  • May apply for new permits and renewals.

  • Conducts incident investigations.

  • Coordinates EHS training for employees and conducts instructor-led EHS training.

Basic Qualifications for Level 4:
  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 8 years of experience in the practice of industrial hygiene, environmental/occupational health, or EHS; or a Master of Science (MS) degree with 6 years of experience in the practice of industrial hygiene, environmental/occupational health, or EHS.

  • Experience in industrial hygiene monitoring including noise and air sampling.

  • Experience in laser and/or RF (radio frequency), chemical exposure, substance specific standards (OSHA regulations), ventilation. Experience conducting office and industrial ergonomics assessment.
