This position will be located at the Missouri Geological Survey, 111 Fairgrounds Road, Rolla, MO 65401.

Duration of Assignment

Date of hire until end of projects or until 1,000 hours worked.

Responsibilities
  • Integrate core log and historic mining data into databases as part of MGS/USGS funded critical mineral projects.
  • Interpret geologic terminology and symbology.
  • Perform geochemical field sampling for a critical mineral mine waste project.
  • Use ArcGIS for collection of core locations and mine waste project data.
Qualifications
  • Coursework for geology or geology‑related degree; comprehension of geologic terminology and concepts.
  • Coursework in mineralogy, petrology, and stratigraphy are preferred.
  • Knowledge of geologic data field collection methods.
  • Experience with ArcGIS and Microsoft Office software are preferred.
  • Learning:
    Uses efficient learning techniques to acquire and apply new knowledge and skills; uses training, feedback, or other opportunities for self‑learning and development.
  • Research:
    Knowledge of the scientific principles, methods, and processes used to conduct a systematic and objective inquiry; including study design, collection, analysis, and interpretation of data; and the reporting of results.
