General Purpose

The Area Supervisor is a member of the Store Leadership who is responsible for a specific, assigned area of the Store as well as the general operations and supervision of the Store when functioning as the Manager on Duty. Area Supervisors open and close the Store, supervise Associates, maintain a friendly, easy to shop environment, ensure proper merchandise presentation, and keep a clean work area at all times.

They also execute and supervise Company operational processes as needed.

Essential Functions Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments
  • Understand that safety is the number one priority and practice safe behaviors in everything they do.
  • Maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment for everyone. Immediately correct or report any unsafe conditions or practices to Store Leadership.
  • Secure the building, including entrance/exit control, Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) daily checks, Cash Office security, armored carrier pick‑ups, and register area.
  • Remove clutter and ensure safe, clear egress to emergency exits.
  • Protect customer safety, including accident prevention, accident reporting, and emergency procedures.
  • Test all fire alarm systems as scheduled and respond to after‑hours alarms when requested.
Customer Service
  • Treat all customers, associates, and other leaders with respect.
  • Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism at all times, and recognize associates using Company recognition programs.
Personal and Store Brand
  • Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
  • Maintain a professional appearance in accordance with the Company Dress Code, and ensure all associates adhere to the Dress Code.
  • Keep all areas of the Store clean, well‑maintained, and merchandised to standard, and perform daily trash removal.
General Merchandising
  • Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns are completed to Company standards through teaching, assigning tasks, and following up per Company best practice.
  • Receive merchandise truck when needed, process all merchandise with a sense of urgency, and receive all non‑merchandise inbound deliveries.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of all Stockrooms, help deliver and place merchandise on the sales floor when processed, secure and process back‑stock per Company policy, and merchandise the department including back‑stock.
  • Reduce loss due to damage, comply with monthly presentation guidelines in assigned area, perform floor moves and signing including promotional signing, and re‑wrap as needed.
Loss Prevention
  • Understand and comply with the Loss Prevention Awareness Program; maintain a large Customer Service presence on the sales floor.
  • Demonstrate integrity and honesty in all interactions, safeguard confidential information, cash, credit card information, and merchandise.
  • Maintain the Public View Monitor (PVM) system, conduct “Code 50” package inspections, and execute Company Best Practices to maximize productivity.
