Job DescriptionResponsibilities include proposal development, collaboration with faculty members and students at the Dure-Transp UTC, report preparation and publication of research findings, and presenting results at various meetings, Will participate as a co-principal investigator or principal investigator on some of the proposals and will be encouraged to seek opportunities to initiate independent research projects. This position requires active participation in in-person research activities, fostering collaboration, and contributing to the advancement of the department's research agenda.
The Assistant Research Professor will work in collaboration with Dr. Kamal Khayat, engaging in the development and execution of various research projects.
Key duties include:
- Proposal development and writing for externally funded research.
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams of faculty and students.
- Authoring and co-authoring scientific publications.
- Presenting research results at national and international conferences.
- Serving as co-principal investigator or principal investigator on select projects.
- Identifying and initiating new research opportunities.
- Engaging in in-person project execution and lab-based research activities.
- Mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students.
- It is expected that a significant portion of the salary for this position should be covered from independent externally funded research after three years.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil and environmental engineering or related fields, with a focus on advanced construction materials technologies and infrastructure. Strong communication, project management, and teamwork skills are essential for success in this role.
QualificationsMinimum - A Ph.D. in civil engineering and experience with concrete-related research and recent post-doc experience in this field of concrete materials from a leading research university in the U.S.
Preferred - Proven research of proposal development, research project coordination, and lab management.
