Job Description
The Radiologic Technologist (RT) works with Medical Providers and/or Medical Assistants with the examination and treatment of Mercy‑GoHealth Urgent Care patients. This role is responsible for providing a variety of technical procedures and applying prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis for our Mercy‑GoHealth Urgent Care patients. This role is responsible for performing and analyzing patient x‑rays and reporting results to Medical Providers.
Additional responsibilities include providing administrative support to ensure efficient operation of Mercy‑GoHealth Urgent Care Centers. In a collaborative manner, the Radiologic Technologist will provide support to Medical Providers, Medical Assistants and patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization and communication.
- High School Diploma required
- Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technologist program required
- Experience in a clinical setting preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required at the time of hire, obtained through the American Red Cross (ARC) or American Heart Association (AHA).
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration required at the time of hire.
- State licensure as a Radiologic Technologist is required at the time of hire (if applicable by state law).
- Responsible for x‑ray services as needed
- Under the direction of the clinical provider, perform x‑ray services for patients by applying x‑ray energy to assist in diagnosis or treatment of patients in all age groups from newborn to elderly.
- Ensure patients are positioned correctly on or in front of equipment and protected during use.
- May need to push patient in a wheelchair
- Inform technical staff of patient flow.
- Prepare patients for examination, which includes conducting interviews to verify patient information, record medical history; confirm purpose of visit;
- Perform preliminary physical test (blood pressure, weight, temperature, etc.) for vital signs and escalated critical cases to provider as needed.
- Conduct point of care testing as needed (i.e., flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG); and provide patient information to provider.
