Established Rocky River law firm seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Family Law Attorney to handle a full range of family law matters including divorce, child custody and parenting time, child support, spousal support, adoption, paternity, and post-judgment modifications. Ideal candidate will be licensed in Ohio, courtroom-ready, and committed to client-centered advocacy.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage an active caseload from intake through resolution (negotiation, mediation, settlement, trial).
- Prepare pleadings, motions, discovery, custody evaluations, parenting plans, and settlement agreements.
- Represent clients in Cuyahoga County and surrounding municipal courts and courts of common pleas.
- Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda on statutory and case law issues.
- Interview and counsel clients; develop case strategy and provide realistic expectations.
- Draft, review, and negotiate marital settlement agreements and court filings.
- Coordinate with experts (therapists, financial professionals, parenting coordinators) as needed.
- Maintain timely client communication and adhere to billing and case management procedures.
- Mentor/paralegal oversight (if applicable) and participate in business development/community outreach.
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law in Ohio and in good standing with the Ohio Supreme Court.
- 3+ years’ experience practicing family law preferred; new attorneys with strong family law internship/clinic experience considered.
- Proven courtroom experience and comfort with hearings, temporary orders, and trials.
- Strong legal research, writing, negotiation, and litigation skills.
- Excellent client-service, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple matters and meet deadlines.
- Reliable transportation for court appearances in Rocky River/Cuyahoga County.
- Mediation or collaborative law training or certification.
- Experience with high-net-worth/division-of-assets cases, complex custody disputes, or domestic violence matters.
- Familiarity with case management software and e-filing systems.
