JOBSUMMARY
Responsible for supervising the repair and maintenance of the water distribution system. Responsible for supervising the updating of all maps, locating and mapping of underground utilities and the flushing of hydrants.
Supervises the work of maintenance crews in the construction, repair, and maintenance of the water distribution system.
>Supervises the flushing program.
Works with engineers, inspectors, and construction contractors in the installation of water lines, water valves, and fire hydrants.
Works with DOT engineers and survey crews on all state road projects that include City utilities and rights-of-way.
Responds to customer complaints.
Coordinates the daily work schedules of assigned personnel.
Updates the water and sewer utility locations on the North Carolina One-Call grid system or the GIS mapping system.
Enter and update NC811 locate tickets for jobs.
Responds to customer water quality complaints.
Compute monthly reports to assist superintendent in upcoming budget.
Assist in collecting data from fire hydrant flow test.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Supervises the update of all maps; supervises the locating and mapping of underground utilities.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Two (2) years of experience in a related field.
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
POSSession of a valid NC driver’s license, with the ability to obtain a NC CDL B within the probationary period assigned (6 Months)
Please note:
Must currently possess a NC State Certification of Water Distribution Operator B and demonstrate the ability to acquire a Water Distribution Operator A within two years from hire.

SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIESThis position has direct supervision Water and Sewer Technical Services Technician (1), Utilities Locator (1), and Water Service Technician (1).
The work is lightwork which requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:
