Job OverviewThe Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic (FRP) operators are responsible for the operation of several processes throughout the FRP process. Operations include operating the fiberglass spray booth, gel coat spray booth, fiberglass trimming and mold repair. The operator will work in all aspects of the process to ensure the final product meets all specified requirements.
Schedule:
Monday through Thursday 10‑hour shifts with required overtime on Fridays and some Saturdays as needed.
- Read, interpret and follow blueprints and work instructions for each product to be produced.
- Clean and maintain all equipment.
- Operate fiberglass and gel spray guns while wearing required protective clothing and supplied‑air hood/breathable air suit.
- Roll resin and chopped fiberglass at a fast pace to ensure completion before the resin hardens.
- Remove parts from the molds in a safe manner.
- Trim and de‑flash product using hand tools.
- Inspect finished parts for defects and stack onto pallets.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operations manuals, blueprints, and work instructions.
- Steady hand and great attention to detail.
- Previous experience and ability to use power tools, spray guns, grinders, cutters, routers, air equipment, etc.
- Basic understanding of chemicals and chemical mixes used for fiberglass and gel coat resins.
- 2+ years of experience in working with fiberglass and/or gel coat spraying.
- Successfully completed coursework in autobody repair.
- Previous experience working with fiberglass, gel coat, and or resin in the boating, bathtub or autobody repair industry.
