Summary – Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. Reporting and accountable to the Nurse Manager/Director, the Clinical Nurse coordinates and delivers patient care using the nursing process in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Educate patients and families, identify learning needs, and use patient education materials to promote health literacy.
• Identify expected patient outcomes and revise the plan of care as needed through interdisciplinary discussion.
• Practice competence in caring for patients with complex problems, including physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety aspects; perform bedside point‑of‑care testing and follow nursing standards and policies.
• Prioritize care, consult timely resources for complex cases, and support high‑risk discharge planning.
• Promote professional growth by setting and achieving goals, participating in unit performance improvement, and providing peer feedback.
• Assess data from complex situations, synthesize information, and anticipate discharge needs, building collaborative relationships with families.
• Plan care in partnership with patients/families, utilizing multidisciplinary resources and addressing cultural and ethnic issues.
• Stay current with research by reading relevant journals and sharing relevant findings with the staff.

Other Information

Education Requirements
:
Graduation from a school of professional nursing.

Licensure/Certification Requirements

• Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.

Professional Experience Requirements
:
One (1) year of nursing experience.
