Infection Prevention & Wound Nurse
iCare Health Network is seeking a dynamic and experienced Infection Prevention & Wound Nurse to join our 60 West team. Come and join our progressive and impressive team of professionals. RN preferred.
This role is responsible for:
Plans, organizes, develops and directs the infection control program in accordance with government guidelines, regulations and company policies.
Advises and consults with physicians, nurses and staff concerning precautions to be taken to protect patients, staff and visitors from possible contamination or infection.
Investigates infection control problems and follows up on the care for persons exposed to infection or disease.
Tracks, prevents, and treats wounds of residents and staff with help of wound care specialist.
Ensures that the facility is in compliance with current CDC, OSHA, state and federal regulations.
Provides professional development to all levels of Nursing Department clinical staff which includes both clinical, required mandatory in-services and non-clinical in nature.
Provides coaching and supporting staff on the patient care units to improve patient care and clinical knowledge as may be needed.
Is required to manage multiple priorities.
Requires work on evening and night shifts as needed to ensure program compliance.
Candidate Qualifications:
Must maintain current/active State of Connecticut RN license. Prefer Bachelors or Associate Degree in a health related field.
Must have working knowledge (experience preferred) with various software programs such as WORD, EXCEL, as well as electronic medical records (EMR) systems and interactive in-service/tracking software (preferred).
Must be able to manage multiple projects and work with all disciplines in a challenging multi-cultural environment.
Must be knowledgeable of Quality Assurance/Improvement process as well as state/federal OSHA and CDC regulations and surveys.
Must be able to speak and write the English language.
Must be CPR and IV certified.
Requires a minimum of 2 years of increased responsibility in a supervisory position in long term care and/or in a rehabilitation facility or hospital setting or an equivalent nursing education degree program.
Prefer a minimum of 6 months training experience in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices.
Prefer a minimum of 6 months training experience in infection prevention.
Experience with state survey process and quality measures is preferred.
