The Porter participates in the skills development program and must achieve certification at specific stations associated with the position.

• Protects and promotes the Whataburger Brand at all times.
• Notifies a manager in advance when unable to report to work as scheduled.
• Checks with management before leaving the restaurant at the scheduled time.
• Recognizes and communicates customer service problems to the manager on duty.
• Attends all meetings and training sessions as required by management.
• Submits requests for work schedule changes according to management guidelines.

• Supports food production through preparation and stocking of various items as directed by management.

• Participates in all current sales promotions/marketing events during work time.
• Operates all designated food production or customer service stations as directed.
• Learns correct location for all items (food, paper, cleaning supplies).

• Accurately states all menu items, product ingredients, and availability.
• Stocks the drink, fry, dining room stations and grill area to maintain continuous service.
• Practices FIFO and proper storage procedures for produce items.
• Efficiently prepares produce items maintaining proper par levels and food handling procedures.
• Maintains enough prepped produce for the next shift.
• Prep sufficient products using proper handling, rotation, and storage procedures.
• Follows established recipes for preparing and serving Whataburger’s products.
• Maintains utensils and equipment in good working order with appropriate cleaning, sharpening, and storage.
• Follows lifting and carrying safety procedures.
• Mops spills or leaks quickly to prevent accidents.
• Notifies management of any leaks or equipment failures (e.g., refrigerators, freezers temperature issues).
• Demonstrates knowledge of proper handling and storage of sanitizing and cleaning chemicals.
• Cleans customer service areas per procedures (outside landscaping, building entrances, dining room tables, condiment stations, restrooms, production and storage units).
• Properly disposes of all trash.
• Achieves certification in all cleaning and sanitation procedures.
• Assumes additional responsibilities as assigned.

• Establishes effective working relationships emphasizing restaurant operations and team productivity.
• Supports customer service by stocking stations appropriately.
• Understands order flow: taking, preparing, delivering customer orders.
• Answers the phone courteously and articulately per procedure.

• Demonstrates fiscal responsibility with Company assets.
• Follows company cash handling policies.

• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to stand during entire shift.
• Ability to reach, bend, stoop, lift, shake, stir, pour, carry, and push.
• Ability to read orders, tickets, menu boards, receipts.
• Frequent contact/immersion of hands in water, cleaning solutions, meat, poultry, seafood, and produce items.
• Frequent washing of hands.
