Lead Software Engineer; Java​/AWS

Overview

Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for a Lead Software Engineer (Java/AWS) for a Contract assignment with one of our premier Regulatory clients in Rockville, MD. This position is hybrid (3 days per week onsite) – Rockville or Tysons. Must be local to DC Metro area.

  QL API Development:
  Design, develop, and maintain Graph
  
  QL APIs to enable efficient data exchange between COTS platforms and the firm’s systems
• Integration Architecture:
  Architect scalable integration solutions that connect external products with the firm’s internal databases, applications, and services
• Systems Connectivity:
  Build and maintain middleware, integration layers, and data pipelines to ensure reliable system-to-system communication
• Vendor Technical
  
  Collaboration:
  
  Work with COTS vendors on technical integration requirements, API specifications, and troubleshooting
• Data Integration:
  Implement data mapping, transformation, and synchronization processes while maintaining data integrity and security standards
• Technical Leadership:
  Mentor engineers on integration patterns, Graph
  
  QL best practices, and guide technical decisions for the investigations technology stack

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred)
• 7 years of software engineering experience with 3 years focused on enterprise system integration
• Strong expertise in Graph
  
  QL: schema design, query optimization, resolver implementation, and federation patterns
• Proficiency in Java and Python
• Experience with REST APIs, authentication protocols (OAuth 2.0, JWT, SAML), and API gateway technologies
• Strong understanding of Oracle and SQL Server databases
• Experience with AWS cloud services and containerization
• Knowledge of CI/CD practices and Dev Ops principles

• Experience with Graph
  
  QL federation and implementing federated Graph
  
  QL architectures
• Background integrating case management, analytics, or enterprise software platforms
• Experience with message brokers and event-driven architectures
• Understanding of security best practices for API integration in regulated environments

• API Design Excellence:
  Deep understanding of Graph
  
  QL schema design, query performance, and API versioning strategies
• Integration Architecture:
  Ability to design and implement robust, scalable integration solutions
• Technical Problem-Solving:
  Strong troubleshooting skills for complex integration challenges

• Documentation:
  Clear technical documentation for APIs, integration architectures, and system interfaces
