Second Shift Vehicle Prep Technician – Rockville, MD

Transdev North America is hiring a Second Shift Vehicle Prep Technician for the Montgomery County Police Department in Rockville, MD.

• Build police cars by installing, repairing, testing, and removing 12‑volt law enforcement vehicle equipment including light bars, flashers, sirens, video cameras, laptops, printers, consoles, transport partitions, radios, speakers, antennas, routers, and more.
• Maintain and troubleshoot low and high voltage electrical systems with minimal supervision.
• Perform physically demanding tasks that may require accessing confined spaces to modify vehicles.
• Operate Monday–Friday, with occasional weekend work for large projects.

• Competitive pay: $28.00 – $30.00 per hour, with night shift differential.
• Vacation: minimum of two (2) weeks.
• Sick days: 5 days.
• Holidays: 12 days; 8 standard and 4 floating.

• Company‑paid ASE testing and training materials.

• Minimum of 2 years of experience desired but not required.
• Knowledge of vehicle wiring and ability to identify electrical circuits.
• Experience installing emergency lighting desired but not required.
• Ability to communicate well with others.
• Ability to work on and see small objects; good hearing and color vision.
• Be prompt and prepared to work.
• Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) certification desired, but not required.
• Ensure vehicles are maintained and safe for customers by performing limited repairs and troubleshooting of low & high voltage electrical systems.

• ASE certifications required; certification program provided.
• Mechanic’s tool set.
• Subject to DOT drug testing and physical if applicable; compliance with DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40.

• Work outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions – 100% of the job is performed outside.
• Sit for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day); frequently walk long distances on possible sloped ground or slippery and uneven surfaces.
• Push and pull objects; lift material weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel or crouch to files or equipment stored at ground level.
• Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing duties; tolerate exposure to dust, vehicle fumes, and noise.
