Reports To: S/P-Sr. Forman S/P
- Superintendent and Assigned S/P Project Manager
Job Summary: Oversee jobsite, coordinate manpower, process all required paperwork (i.e. meaningful daily reports, RFI’s, As-built drawings), and working along with crew using tools when time permits or the project dictates. Be fully prepared to install the equipment called for on the job site i.e. RTU, AHU, Boiler VAV’s, etc. Build projects in accordance with the plans, specifications, and IOM’s while maintaining all clearances and code requirements at a high level of quality installation.
Requirements:
Experience
Minimum of 7 years in the HVAC trade.
Education
- High School Diploma or G.E.D
- Advance HVAC technical training. (Experience may be substituted for education)
Licenses
- CFC Certification (Universal preferred)
- HVAC Master’s (preferred) Journeyman’s (minimum) (or obtain in a timely manner once employed)
- NATE Certifications
- Valid Driver’s license in good standing (to drive company vehicle)
- OSHA – 30 (Or obtain in a timely manner once employed)
Physical and Work Schedule
This job does have a degree of physical requirements.
- Able to lift five to seventy pounds (5-70lbs), with or without assistance, frequently.
- Able to sit, stand, bend, walk, climb, place both hands over your head, and remain in static positions for the duration of shift.
- Able to withstand exposure to heights, tight/confined spaces; work in dusty areas; work in temperature extremes; be exposed to external elements (wind, rain, snow, etc.)
- Able to work Monday-Friday with occasional evenings and weekends as needed. Must be able to be flexible with work schedule.
- High School Diploma or equivalent (experience may be substituted for education)
- Own Reliable Transportation – go to sites in Metro DC as assigned/needed (including Maryland and Virginia)
Duties and Responsibilities
Project Planning
- Possess a complete understanding of our scope of work and contractual relationship (i.e. S&D prime or S&D subcontractor)
- Read and understand all plans, specifications, and equipment installation instructions for the project
- Have a complete understanding of all subcontractor’s scope responsibilities
- Have a complete understanding of the control sequences and control work required for the project
- Have a complete understanding of electrical requirements for equipment we are providing (verify all voltages)
- Check submittals against specifications to make sure they match
- Work with P.M. pre-write RFI’s and forward to the Project Manager
- Review labor reports and notify the project manager if labor budgets are unreasonable or will not be met
- Maintain 2-week Planner
Project Oversite and Execution
- Effective communications with S&D’s client (either GC superintendent, on-site owner’s representative, or owner direct)
- Coordinate manpower with Superintendent and/or designated assistant. Provide manpower needs (add or subtract) as timely as possible
- Schedule subcontractors to the job site when needed
- Report all material shortages to Purchasing promptly
- Ensure all material and equipment is properly checked in.
- Report all equipment discrepancies to the project manager.
- Morning huddles (discuss daily goals, safety hazards, etc)
- Conduct weekly safety meetings
- Make materials request list and submit to purchasing with three or more days’ notice
- Coordinate deliveries of materials
- Attend all progress meetings as required
- Coordinate work with other trades
- Double-check all installations (Q.C Job Daily)
- Call for inspections and walk the job with the inspector
