- Assist the store manager with overall operation of the retail store.
- Assist the store manager in compliance and enforcement of company policy and standards.
- Perform daily administrative/clerical functions of store operations and cash transactions.
- Monitor sales transactions associated with purchases and ensure proper sales procedures are followed by store associates.
- Maintain the general appearance of store and premises according to Goodwill standards.
- Ensure enforcement of store safety and security procedures.
- Settle customer complaints.
- Provide input for associate interviews and performance evaluations.
- Makes bank deposits.
- Opens and closes the store as necessary.
- Supervises and trains retail associates.
- Instructs workers during interviews to develop their full working potential.
- Ensures proper staffing levels.
- Monitors time and attendance system.
This position has supervisory responsibility for the retail staff including the donation attendants, processors, and sales associates.
Required Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent and at least 6 months of supervisory experience (or completion of GGW’s Aspiring Managers and Employ Excellence).
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Reading and math skills at or above an 11th grade level.
- Ability to bend and lift 40‑50 pounds frequently.
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time (up to 7 hours per 8‑hour shift).
- Previous cashier experience.
- Basic working knowledge of computer applications and the internet.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Previous experience in a retail department store environment.
- Ability to coach and direct employees.
- Ability to adapt to periodic and rapid change.
- Fluency in English and Spanish.
