Volunteer Opportunity:Mental Wellness Race Ambassadors
Every Mind will host a community 5K race and 1K walk on May 10, 2026
. This early‑morning event is designed to raise funds, promote mental wellness, and bring together participants of all ages through activities such as warm‑ups, sponsor activations, and engagement with local leaders. Organized by the Marketing Department, the race will run for about four hours and aims to strengthen community connection while recognizing volunteers and attracting individuals, teams, and groups from across the area.
We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join us in promoting Every Mind’s mission. As a volunteer, you will play a key role in supporting our event and outreach activities and engaging directly with the community to raise awareness.
Key Responsibilities- Engage & Connect with the Community
- Spark conversations with local businesses through upbeat, mission‑driven cold calls that help spread the word about Race Day.
- Hit the ground running with in‑person outreach to business districts, residential communities, and bustling shopping centers in your assigned zones.
- Represent Every Mind proudly at two race‑related events, supporting community connection and momentum‑building.
- Join our outreach/orientation session, where you’ll get hands‑on training in community engagement and registration techniques.
- Champion Every Mind’s Mission
- Share Every Mind’s crucial mental health services and values with the wider community, helping raise awareness, inspire support, and strengthen community ties.
- Team Collaboration
- Work side‑by‑side with fellow volunteers and Every Mind staff to ensure smooth, organized, and high‑energy execution leading up to Race Day.
- Training:
Comprehensive training on community outreach, marketing, event coordination, and business development. - Meaningful Impact: A unique opportunity to make a difference and contribute to Every Mind’s mission.
- Minimum 8 hours/week (Monday‑Friday)
- One weekend outreach event per month
There are TWO 8‑week volunteer cycles. We are seeking THREE volunteers for each cycle.
- Cycle 1:
February 2 – March 27. Must attend orientation on February 2 in‑person, 3‑5:30 pm. - Cycle 2:
March 23 – May 15. Must attend orientation on March 23 in‑person, 3‑5:30 pm.
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Must be willing to use a personal cell phone to make outreach calls (app‑based internal number; personal number stays private).
- Must have access to a personal laptop or be able to work from the Every Mind office at 1000 Twinbrook Pkwy.
- Access to reliable transportation and a willingness to travel to local events, including transporting materials from the Rockville office to event locations.
- Comfortable making cold calls and speaking with community members in person.
- The volunteer must pass a criminal background check and fingerprinting. All volunteers must be free of illegal drugs and abuse of alcohol, and must be fully able to perform all required duties.
- Show up on time, follow through on commitments, and work independently while being a strong team player.
- Able to attend the required in‑person orientation/training session and willing to participate in two assigned race‑related events (1 × month).
- Friendly, positive, and capable of representing Every Mind with professionalism.
- Passionate about mental health awareness and Every Mind’s mission (or excited to learn).
