Who We AreThe Office of Consumer Protection (OCP) advocates for a fair and honest marketplace in Montgomery County. Since 1971, we’ve helped residents by investigating and resolving consumer complaints, licensing and registering businesses, and promoting consumer awareness through education and outreach. Our work is grounded in Chapter 11 of the County Code, which prohibits unfair and deceptive business practices. Recognized nationally for our commitment to consumer rights, we strive to protect and empower every resident in Montgomery County.
WhoWe Are Looking For
We are seeking a strategic, creative, and results-driven Marketing & Outreach Manager to lead the Office of Consumer Protection’s (OCP) public engagement, branding, and communications efforts. The ideal candidate is a proactive communicator and campaign strategist who can pitch innovative ideas aligned with OCP’s strategic plan and translate them into actionable marketing and outreach initiatives. We are looking for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, has a passion for public service, and is committed to educating and protecting consumers throughout Montgomery County.
You should be skilled in content creation and management, digital strategy, event planning, and media relations, with a strong understanding of branding and community engagement.
- Strategic Thinking:
Ability to develop and implement integrated marketing campaigns aligned with organizational goals. - Project Management:
Skilled in managing multiple projects, timelines, and deliverables with attention to detail. - Creative Communication:
Strong writing, editing, designing, and visual storytelling skills to engage diverse audiences. - Digital Fluency:
Experience with social media strategy, content management systems, and analytics tools. - Collaboration:
Ability to work across teams and with external partners to maximize outreach impact. - Public Engagement:
Comfortable representing the organization and events, and in media interactions.

What You'll Be DoingAs the Marketing & Outreach Manager, you will lead OCP’s communications and outreach strategy to enhance public awareness and engagement. You will manage campaigns, content creation, digital platforms, and community events to ensure that OCP’s messaging is clear, consistent, and accessible.
Your Responsibilities Will Include- Developing and executing integrated marketing campaigns aligned with OCP’s strategic goals.
- Manage branded materials and ensure consistent visual identity across platforms.
- Creating and reviewing educational and promotional content, including videos, graphics, and newsletters.
- Leading the department’s social media strategy and editorial calendar.
- Coordinating media relations, including press releases, talking points, and media tracking.
- Planning and managing community outreach events, workshops, and public forums.
- Producing OCP’s annual report and maintaining records of outreach and campaign performance.
This position requires the ability to attend meetings or perform work at locations outside the office.
