Founded as a 501(c)3 organization in 2014, the Association of Technology Leaders in Independent Schools (ATLIS) represents a growing membership of 400+ independent schools. ATLIS supports technology at schools to help them thrive in the future, with a focus on empowering schools as the expert, supporting professionals as mentors, and delivering a body of knowledge as an indispensable resource. ATLIS’s work aims to assist students, teachers and administrators to thrive and to provide career pathways for technology leaders.
Positionand Reports
The CEO reports to a sixteen-member board of directors. The organization operates with a high-performance, strategic culture in partnership with the CEO, who leads a virtual team of six employees. The Board seeks a best-in-class leader who can drive growth, deepen impact, and advance ATLIS’s mission within a focused strategy. The Board expects the CEO to be accountable for ATLIS operations and culture and to sustain momentum, high value, and growth in budget and programs.
RoleContext and Candidate Profile
ATLIS is seeking a partner who can lead through a growth and scaling era as a high-profile executive. The successful candidate will possess visionary leadership strengths, an entrepreneurial innovation approach, strong business acumen, a mature executive presence, humility, and a genuine love of achieving work through relationships. The next CEO’s charisma, authenticity, high emotional intelligence, approachability, and personal integrity will be highly valued.
Prior track record of similar successes, alignment with association best practices, and capability to apply leadership and organizational design skills to grow bottom line, membership, engagement, and programs (including TLIS certification) are important considerations.
- Open to extensive travel up to 40% of time.
- BA/BS in business, management, nonprofit management, information management, public administration, or related field.
- Advanced degrees such as an MBA and professional certifications are desirable.
- CAE designation is preferred.

An announcement is expected around June 1 with an anticipated start date between August 1 and September 1, 2026. Compensation range is $200k–$230k with 100% platinum health insurance coverage for the employee and 75% for dependents.
