Position: Associate Director, HR Technology (Workday)

The Associate Director, Human Resources (HR) is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations for an HR function (Compensation, Benefits, Staffing, Training, Organizational Development, etc.). This role includes developing, recommending, and executing strategic business plans for the function, and managing or assisting with managing team resources (people and financial). They exercise a high degree of independent judgment and decision making, which could have significant organizational impact.

Building and strengthening relationships at all levels of the business, and working collaboratively to determine solutions to complex business issues, are essential.

Essential Job Functions
  • Functional Management
    • Leads the design and execution of major programs within a function, ensuring program elements align to the strategic priorities of the business and comply with applicable policies, procedures, and regulations.
    • Manages individuals or serves as the project team lead on high-impact programs and initiatives; teams are often cross-functional and may impact a significant subset of, if not the entire, employee population.
    • Establishes performance standards and metrics to measure initiatives, determine quality and ROI, and assess overall team performance related to client satisfaction.
    • Participates in setting short- and long-term strategic direction for the area of responsibility, working with the senior HR leadership team.
    • Leverages systems and technology to increase efficiency and productivity, and to simplify processes and programs for employees.
    • Stays informed of industry trends through external networks and education to assess viable improvements for the function.
  • Relationship Management
    • Develops and maintains effective working relationships with all levels of management to gain insight into the business and inform program design and implementation.
    • Aligns HR and functional strategy with business goals and assesses alignment with key stakeholders.
    • Collaborates with multiple HR functions to align priorities and resources to meet goals and objectives.
    • Partners with teams outside HR (e.g., Corporate Communications, Office of General Counsel, Technology) to ensure effective program design, development, and execution.
    • Manages or coordinates external vendors to optimize resource use through proposals, selection, and ongoing performance assessment.
    • Demonstrates FINRA’s values and collaborates to support FINRA’s mission of investor protection and market integrity.
Education/Experience Requirements
  • Bachelors degree with a minimum of seven years of relevant experience
  • Experience managing people or cross-functional teams
  • In-depth project management skills
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
  • Proven ability to collaborate and influence to achieve outcomes
  • Experience working with Vice Presidents and above
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Effective presentation skills
  • Advanced degree or relevant certification desirable
Work Conditions
  • Hybrid work environment with defined in-person presence requirements
  • Extended hours and travel may be required

For work performed in CA, CO, FL, TX, IL, PA, MA, MD, VA, Washington, DC, NY and NJ, salary ranges are location-based. Actual compensation is based on factors including skill set, experience, education, and internal peer compensation comparisons.

Salary ranges by location:
CA: $128,000 – $242,600
CO/FL/TX: $111,400 – $202,100
IL/PA: $122,800 – $222,400
MA/MD/VA/DC: $128,000 – $232,500
NY/NJ: $128,000 – $242,600

Candidates can expect salary offers that range from the minimum to the midpoint of the salary range. FINRA provides full pay ranges to reflect growth potential.
