Special Projects Assistant Project Manager (APM)

Reports To: Director Special Projects

Role Overview:

The Special Projects Assistant Project Manager will support S/P Project Managers in executing projects. They must be self-motivated, capable of working independently, and understand the importance of precise timing and communication in small projects. Key skills include strong communication, professionalism, and proficiency in reading blueprints, drawings, and specifications. The role also involves assisting with change order pricing and presentations.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years HVAC trade experience with at least 2 years in management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, Sage, Autodesk ACC Build, 300 Construction, and mobile applications.


  • Education:

    College AA Degree preferred in engineering or construction management;
    High School Diploma required; additional technical HVAC training and management courses are a plus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Involvement: Survey job sites, assist with meetings, update schedules and reports, review daily reports, collaborate with design engineers, and coordinate inspections.
  • Project Accounting & Administration: Assist with project startup, review contracts, manage submittals, track equipment and scope of work, develop RFIs and change orders, and handle project close-out documents.
  • Estimating & Change Orders: Perform takeoffs, prepare estimates, write proposals, and follow up with clients.
  • Leadership: Motivate staff, stay updated on industry trends, and participate in professional organizations.
