Summary Description
Under general supervision on an assigned shift, operates enterprise computer systems, tape libraries, and associated equipment. The work of the class involves operation of enterprise servers, high speed printers, optical scanners, pressure sealers and the related equipment and devices in a multi‑platform data center environment. Employees are responsible for completing scheduled production runs during their shifts, taking actions on own initiative to maintain schedule and correct problems;
serious problems are referred to shift supervisor or senior technical staff.
Physical Demands:
Ability to stand for extended periods of time and move heavy boxes and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds. Ability to work at a computer screen for long periods. Special Requirements:
Ability to work assigned shift and occasional overtime. Ability to work during inclement weather and when urgent or emergency work must be performed.
The wage range for this shift 3 position is a salary between $26.41 p/h and $37.60 p/h based position responsibilities. For information about benefits, please follow this link. The start time for this position is:

Knowledge Skills Abilities- Working knowledge of the practices and procedures of operating enterprise Unix and Windows servers and associated peripheral equipment and devices.
- Working knowledge of automated monitoring systems, data center environmental control systems, data center HVAC systems, electrical equipment such as UPS, transformers and circuit breakers.
- Working knowledge of the care and handling of magnetic tape, disks, and printers.
- Working knowledge of the operations of high speed printing equipment, computer forms and supplies and their use.
- Knowledge of basic programming concepts, database management system concepts, and online system concepts desirable.
- Ability to follow run instructions in completing production runs.
- Ability to apply error and problem correction techniques as necessary.
- Ability to learn quickly the operating standards and utility programs of the department.
- Ability to work under tight schedules and deadlines with maximum efficiency.
- Knowledge of and the ability to meet the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS).
- High School or GED diploma required.
- Training in mainframe computer operation, and the operation of enterprise servers and tape libraries and completion of courses in operating systems and procedures used by the department.
- Some experience in computer operation.
- Experience in troubleshooting hardware/software operational problems.
- Other combinations of education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in this position may be considered.
