The department facilitates business and reengineering processes to improve legacy workflow and streamline services to our customers.
The lead position will oversee the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, ensuring smooth operations, managing staff and contractors, and guiding strategic planning for a next‑generation ERP system for Montgomery County.
We are looking for an experienced Manager (M2) to join the Office of Digital Transformation and lead the ERP Team within the Technology and Enterprise Business Solutions (TEBS) at Montgomery County Government. In this role, you will lead a dedicated team focused on enhancing, innovating, and implementing the ERP experience. This includes managing modules for Human Resources, Procurement, Finance, Alcoholic Beverage Services, and General Services.
Candidates should have 5 to 7 years of experience in Technical Program Management, project management for cloud technologies, and a strong understanding of Oracle and Microsoft ERP modules. Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 is a plus.
You will guide the County’s transition from a monolithic ERP platform to a modular, hybrid architecture by developing a collaborative roadmap that incorporates best practices and governance structures. Your responsibilities will include conducting cost‑benefit analyses, creating multi‑year budget forecasts, and aligning technology investments with operational goals.
Additionally, you will ensure compliance with internal controls, maintain audit readiness, and promote collaboration for change management and user adoption. This role reports directly to executive leadership and serves as a liaison to external vendors and internal stakeholders.
MAJOR FOCUS AREAS AND DUTIES FOR THE ERP MANAGER INCLUDE:Vision, Strategic Planning and Implementation
- Lead the vision, planning and implementation in collaboration with TEBS for ERP 2.0 and function as the Project Sponsor for the ERP 2.0.
- Develop and implement strategic plans and vision for ERP deployment that align with the organization’s goals and objectives.
- Oversee the configuration, customization, and integration of ERP modules to ensure that specific departmental needs are met. Manage and evaluate these processes for continuous improvement.
- Manage the ERP team by overseeing technical professionals and contractors to ensure effective service delivery. Track impact using project and program management technologies to report on program impact and efficiency.
- Promote a collaborative and customer‑oriented culture by encouraging effective communication and enhancing customer satisfaction within the team.
- Lead a diverse team across multiple functional areas, demonstrating strong competencies in performance management, strategic planning, and staff development to ensure alignment with organizational goals. This role carries significant decision‑making authority for ERP initiatives and may include budget oversight for projects and departmental operations.
- Monitor and manage the performance of ERP systems by identifying and resolving issues to maintain system reliability.
