About Mowze
Forget the lab simulations and the "concept" videos. At Mowze, our mission is to build the future of commercial autonomous mowing. Our robots are already on the grass. We are a 3-year-old startup based in central Montgomery County, Maryland, and we are pioneering robotic lawn mowing for commercial properties. We’re currently scaling up and learning how to deliver robotic mowing profitably are hands‑on, we are innovative, and we are changing an entire industry from the ground up.
The Role:Not Your Average Desk Job
We are looking for a Robotics Technician who would rather have a wrench or a multimeter in their hand than a spreadsheet. This is a "hands‑on‑the‑robots" role. You will be at the center of our fleet operations, ensuring our robots are built to spec, deployed correctly, and performing flawlessly in the wild. You’ll work closely with our engineering and customer success teams to make sure what works in the terminal works on the turf.
As you master the machines, you’ll become a key voice in identifying hardware improvements and testing new iterations.
- Build the Fleet:
Assemble robotic lawn mowers - Command the Field:
Deliver robots to customers across the DMV (DC, MD, VA), lead the setup, and help train users to work alongside their new robotic teammates. - Manage the Lab:
Help us organize and optimize our construction and maintenance facility as we scale. - Troubleshoot & Optimize:
Proactively monitor operations, diagnose issues, and perform the maintenance needed to keep the fleet healthy. - Collaborate on R&D:
Work side‑by‑side with senior engineers to test new features and identify "real world" improvements.
- Deep Dive. You’ll become a Mowze expert. You’ll learn every bolt, sensor, and circuit while helping us prep our new lab and inventory systems.
- Build Phase. You’ll be hands‑on assembling, testing, and delivering the next generation of Mowze robots.
- Scale & Support. You’ll own the fleet’s success. You’ll troubleshoot complex electro‑mechanical issues, run field tests, and help us define predictive maintenance for a large‑scale autonomous fleet.
We are looking for early‑career talent with a "builder" mentality. You’re a great fit if:
- You Have Mechanical Aptitude:
You’re proficient with hand and power tools and actually enjoy the "wrenching" side of robotics. - You’re Field‑Ready:
You have a clean driving record and are ready to learn the art of driving a pickup with a trailer. You don't mind working outdoors in various weather conditions. - You’re Tech‑Fluent:
You can navigate a mowing app on your phone, maybe you’ve played with Python or ROS, and you’re comfortable using software to monitor hardware performance. - You’re a Natural Communicator:
You can explain technical issues to a customer just as easily as you can discuss a bug with a software engineer. - You Know Your Way Around a Circuit:
You’re comfortable with wiring harnesses and batteries; using a multimeter or oscilloscope comes naturally to you.
- Formal education is less important than curiosity and passion. Perhaps you have a bachelor’s degree (completed or still in progress) in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field. Or perhaps you have taken a different path.
- Experience:
0–3 years of related experience (We value hands‑on projects such as automotive repair, appliance repair, robotics clubs, and internships over years spent in a cubicle). - Physicality:
Ability to work on your feet and lift 30+ lbs
- Experience with lawn mowing
- Experience with drones or radio‑controlled models
- Experience bringing products to market or building physical products at scale
- Knowledge of CAD, SQL, or data visualization (Grafana, Tableau).
- Familiarity with predictive maintenance or fleet management.
If you want to move beyond the classroom and into a role where your work is visible on the lawn every single day, Mowze is the place. We are a small, hardworking team where your ideas will be heard and your impact will be immediate.
