Location: Rockville, MD / DMV area (specific location based on site/client office)
We are seeking a skilled Structural Field Engineer (SFE) to provide vital technical support to structural maintenance teams. The successful candidate will establish and implement key processes to support maintenance operations and ensure adherence to engineering specifications and best practices.
Responsibilities- Provide technical support to structural maintenance crews, ensuring compliance with specifications, work instructions, and approved procedures
- Assist in developing maintenance strategies, including frequency, materials, and equipment selection
- Maintain logs of technical support activities and stay informed of maintenance plans, schedules, and safety regulations
- Support structural repairs such as track support, leak mitigation, drainage maintenance, and concrete patching
- Coordinate with structural engineers on new or revised repair procedures
- Monitor field maintenance activities and provide scheduling recommendations
- Analyze asset management data to guide maintenance frequency and type
- Recommend improvements to asset management and maintenance strategies
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
- Minimum 5 years of experience in construction and preferably maintenance of major transit projects or similar infrastructure
- Proven experience with concrete and steel structures
- Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and repair procedures, and guide maintenance crews
- Ability to assist maintenance crews in selecting and deploying materials and equipment, including construction methods and techniques
- Strong ability to identify and address safety and quality concerns
- Effective coordination and communication skills with maintenance staff and stakeholders, with good interpersonal skills
- Experience in tunnel maintenance, including leak mitigation preferred
- Experience maintaining track-beds under direct fixation track, including track-bed and drainage cleaning and grout pad renewals preferred
- Experience with WMATA structural repairs preferred
- Familiarity with asset management databases such as Maximo and Optram, including incident analysis for maintenance planning preferred
Proposed Salary: $90 - $125k annual
Other compensation: opportunities for annual increase and bonus, and other types of bonuses
