Afterschool English Instructor

CCACC Academy is an individual and family services company located in Rockville, Maryland. We are dedicated to providing comprehensive educational and recreational programs for the community. Our aim is to foster personal development, lifelong learning, and community engagement through our various programs and events.

This is a part‑time, on‑site position for an After school Elementary English Instructor located in Rockville, MD. The instructor will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, developmentally appropriate English Language Arts (ELA) instruction for elementary school students in an after school setting.

The role focuses on strengthening foundational literacy skills—including reading comprehension, vocabulary development, writing structure, grammar/mechanics, and speaking/listening—through hands‑on activities, differentiated instruction, and scaffolded support to meet diverse learning needs. The instructor will also ensure a safe, structured, and supportive environment that promotes student confidence, engagement, and academic growth.

Days Needed: Wednesday & Friday

Time: 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM

• 4:00 PM – 4:25 PM: Lesson Preparation
• 4:25 PM – 5:30 PM: Elementary English / ELA Instruction
• 5:30 PM – 6:00 PM: Student Dismissal & Supervision

• Plan and deliver engaging, age‑appropriate English/ELA lessons for elementary school students
• Reinforce foundational literacy skills including:
• Reading comprehension (main idea, details, inference, sequencing)
• Vocabulary development and word study
• Writing skills (sentence building, paragraph structure, organization)
• Grammar and conventions (punctuation, capitalization, parts of speech)
• Speaking and listening routines (discussion norms, presentations, partner talk)
• Use differentiated instruction and scaffolding to support diverse learning styles and ability levels
• Prepare instructional materials, reading passages, writing supports, and hands‑on literacy activities
• Monitor student progress and adjust instruction based on student needs and performance
• Provide constructive feedback on student writing and reading comprehension tasks
• Maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom environment
• Supervise students during transitions and dismissal
• Communicate effectively with program staff regarding student progress, engagement, and behavior

• Strong understanding of elementary literacy / ELA instruction (reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary)
• Experience teaching or tutoring elementary‑aged children in a classroom or after‑school setting
• Ability to create engaging, developmentally appropriate lesson plans aligned to student skill levels
• Strong classroom management, organizational, and communication skills
• Patience, enthusiasm, and a passion for helping students build reading and writing confidence
• Teaching certification, education coursework, reading intervention experience, or ELA tutoring experience is a plus
