Overview
Under the direction of the Alternative Programs supervisor/designee, plans and implements a program for secondary school students to:
- provide differentiated instruction
- remediate academic deficiencies
- improve behavior and social skills
- improve attendance
- support students in meeting exit criteria to be eligible to return to a comprehensive school program
Physical Demands: as required by the duties and responsibilities of the job.
Special Requirements: required to attend school meetings, programs and activities outside the instructional day as mandated by the MCEA agreement.
Job Specific InformationThis position is a high school English Elective teacher. It might include teaching one middle school section of Read 180 and an elective related to English like Journalism. We are looking for a creative, energetic, innovative individual to actively engage students. The wage range for this position is a salary between $64,591 and $131,472 based on education & experience. Master’s degree or equivalent with special interest in teaching at-risk adolescents. Three years outstanding teacher experience. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered. Meet Maryland State Department of Education certification requirements for a core high school subject:
English, math, science, social studies or special education.
