Position OverviewWe are seeking a highly motivated and scientifically accomplished Director of Business Development to lead the launch and commercial growth of our new Functional Genomics Services. This unique “Scientist‑turned‑Business Developer” role requires a consultative partnership with Principal Investigators and R&D Directors, translating complex biological questions (e.g., drug resistance mechanisms, CRISPR screening phenotypes) into viable experimental designs using our R3200 platform. The ideal candidate holds a Ph.D. with deep expertise in cell biology or genomics and a proven track record of selling high‑value, complex scientific services or instruments.

Key Responsibilities- Spearhead the commercial launch of Psomagen’s Functional Genomics services, identifying, prospecting, and closing new business opportunities within Pharma, Biotech, and top‑tier Academic institutions, with a focus on Drug Discovery and Translational Research departments.
- Engage in high‑level scientific discussions with clients to understand their research goals and propose customized experimental solutions that leverage the unique genotype‑phenotype linkage capabilities of the Cellanome R3200 platform, building profitable service offerings.
- Serve as the critical bridge between the client and Psomagen’s internal wet‑lab and bioinformatics teams, ensuring client technical requirements (cell types, culture conditions, deliverables) are accurately communicated and feasible within our operational protocols.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to develop scientific white papers, case studies, and webinar content, and represent Psomagen as a thought leader at key scientific conferences (e.g., AACR, AGBT, ISSCR).
- Build and manage a robust sales pipeline, achieve annual revenue targets, and provide accurate forecasts and market feedback to senior leadership to guide future technology adoption and service expansion.
- Education:
Ph.D. in Cell Biology, Immunology, Genomics, or a related life science field. - Experience:
Minimum 5 years in the life science industry; at least 3 years of direct experience in Business Development, Technical Sales, or Field Application Scientist roles selling high‑end instruments (e.g., 10x Genomics, flow cytometry, high‑content imaging) or specialized CRO services. - Technical Knowledge:
Comprehensive knowledge of the functional genomics workflow, including cell line development, drug screening assays, and NGS library preparation. - Communication:
Exceptional ability to communicate complex scientific concepts to both business and technical stakeholders; proven ability to negotiate contracts and close deals.
- Experience launching a new technology or service from "zero to one" in a competitive market.
- Hands‑on wet‑lab experience with the Cellanome platform or similar single‑cell multi‑modal technologies.
- Established network of contacts within U.S. biotech hubs.
- Experience working in a CLIA/CAP regulatory environment.

Target Salary Range: $80,000 – $130,000. Salary is determined within this range based on the qualifications.
