What You'll Do:
- Maintain & Repair Water Systems:
Read meters, identify and repair leaks, and install new water and sewer mains. - Troubleshoot & Resolve Issues:
Operate remote control cameras to inspect sewer lines, clean blockages, and repair manholes. - Operate Specialized Equipment:
Use heavy machinery such as dump trucks, backhoes, and forklifts, as well as power tools. - Ensure Public Safety:
Install work safety zones, direct traffic at worksites, and maintain fire hydrants. - Respond to Emergencies:
Participate in on-call rotations for emergency repairs and urgent maintenance needs.
- Knowledgeable & Skilled:
Familiarity with water and wastewater systems, utility meter operations, and equipment maintenance. - Hands-On
Experience:
Ability to use hand and power tools effectively, operate heavy machinery, and perform physical tasks in various conditions. - Problem-Solver:
Strong analytical skills to diagnose and resolve system issues efficiently. - Team Player:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with colleagues, contractors, and the public. - Adaptable & Reliable:
Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions and be available for emergency call-outs.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least one to two years of experience in a related role or an apprenticeship.
- Valid Texas driver's license (or ability to obtain one).
- Ability to obtain a Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) Class C or higher license in water and wastewater.
This is an active role that requires frequent lifting, bending, climbing, and exposure to outdoor elements, noise, and machinery. Protective gear is required in certain situations.
