Job Summary

The Mammography Technologist is responsible for performing screening as well as ensuring quality control (QC) in the imaging process. They work closely with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to accurately capture and interpret breast images for early detection of breast cancer. Their primary duties include positioning patients, operating mammography equipment, and maintaining patient records. They are also responsible for maintaining and calibrating the equipment to ensure accurate and high-quality images.

Mammography technologists must adhere to safety protocols and provide compassionate care to patients during the screening process.

Minimum Qualifications

For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position.

  • Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT)
  • American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS), or UC Davis Health CPR
  • Valid CRT (M) CA Mammography State License
  • ARRT Mammography Credential
  • Applicant must be up to date on State requirements for Mammography Performance
  • Digital 8-hour 2D and 3D certificate
  • Comprehensive understanding of essential Mammography imaging and knowledge of Radiology equipment, supplies, and drugs
  • Ability to operate radiographic and auxiliary equipment to produce a quality product; adapt to new programs and equipment upgrades as the radiological field advances
  • Physical ability to perform all functions of a mammography technologist
  • Skill to prioritize workload to produce a sufficient volume of work in a timely manner
  • Demonstrates responsibility and dependability (e.g., attendance, punctuality, positive attitude, initiative, maintenance of equipment and work area)
  • Knowledge of health system and departmental policies and procedures; ability to refer to others as needed
  • Ability to learn and efficiently utilize health system electronic resources while maintaining patient privacy and adhering to health system and HIPAA regulations
  • Written and oral communication skills to clearly provide information and instructions to individuals with varying levels of understanding
  • Interpersonal skills to create a welcoming environment and to interact professionally with radiologists, clinicians and peers
  • Ability to maintain composure and deliver customer-service oriented care during peak workload and in challenging situations
  • Problem-solving skills to independently identify and resolve issues
  • Decision-making skills to exercise delegated authority appropriately
  • Discretion to maintain patient confidentiality
  • Flexibility with schedule changes to meet patient care and department needs
Preferred Qualifications
  • A.S. in Radiologic Science/Radiologic Technology
  • 1 year of experience in mammography
