Overview
Job Summary:
The Mammography Technologist is responsible for performing screening and ensuring quality control (QC) in the imaging process. They work closely with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to accurately capture and interpret breast images for early detection of breast cancer. Primary duties include positioning patients, operating mammography equipment, and maintaining patient records. They are responsible for maintaining and calibrating equipment to ensure accurate and high-quality images, adhering to safety protocols, and providing compassionate care during the screening process.
Qualifications
- Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT)
- American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS), or UC Davis Health CPR
- Valid CRT (M) CA Mammography State License
- ARRT Mammography Credential
- Up-to-date on State requirements for Mammography Performance
- Digital 8-hour 2D and 3D certificate
- Comprehensive understanding of essential Mammography imaging and knowledge of radiology equipment, supplies, and drugs
- Ability to operate radiographic and auxiliary equipment and adapt to new programs and upgrades
- Physical ability to perform all functions of a mammography technologist
- Ability to prioritize workload and maintain attendance, punctuality, and a positive attitude
- Knowledge of health system policies, patient privacy, and HIPAA regulations
- Written and oral communication skills for diverse patients
- Interpersonal skills to maintain a welcoming environment
- Ability to stay composed under peak workload and interact with ill or distressed patients
- Problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and a professional environment
- Flexibility to assist at various locations and with portable equipment
- A.S. in Radiologic Science/Radiologic Technology
- 1 year of experience in mammography
- 90% - General Mammography Technologist Duties
- 10% - General Department Functions and additional Mammography Technologist Duties
