Engineering Support roles encompass a diverse range of positions that provide technical assistance and expertise to engineering teams across various disciplines. These roles may involve tasks such as conducting research, performing analyses, and assisting in the design and development of engineering projects. Engineering support professionals work closely with engineers and other stakeholders to ensure projects meet quality standards, deadlines, and budgetary constraints.
DisciplineDescription
Engineering specialists support engineers in the design, modification, improvement, and maintenance of products, processes, and systems in support of nuclear facility operations and missions. Activities include identifying and recommending improvements/preventive actions, inspecting, testing, maintaining, repairing, and installing equipment and systems. They may develop/configure software and/or applications. They monitor processes, estimate costs, make, or verify calculations, and analyze and interpret data. They test new and modified products, processes, and/or systems.
ResponsibilitiesSome Typical Duties &
Responsibilities Include:
- SRPPF Operations Project Integration represents the NNSA Pit Production Operations and Programs to ensure that operational input and needs are addressed in the SRPPF Project.
- Reviews design to ensure operability and maintainability, (and in conjunction with Commissioning and Readiness) operational readiness preparation, start-up/acceptance testing, and transition activities.
- Manages Operations Project and Program risks.
- Ensure that the appropriate operations and maintenance input is included in the project governing design documents (e.g., Functional and Operational Requirement [F&OR], Program Requirements Document [PRD], Facility Design Description [FDD], System Design Description [SDD], etc.) and carried through to final design completion declaration.
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field plus at least five years of experience (YOE) in a relevant role, OR Master's degree in relevant field plus at least two years of experience (YOE), OR Doctoral degree in relevant field.
- Equivalencies to experience and education requirements will be considered.
Bachelor's degree in engineering, technical, or mechanical area are preferred.

Security Clearance InformationSRNS is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug & alcohol test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, criminal records, and employment history, and education verifications. Positions with SRNS may require applicants to obtain and maintain a DOE L or Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. Factors such as pre-employment background review results, dual citizenship status, and unpaid and/or unfiled taxes may impact your ability to obtain a security clearance.
