Job Title:
Extension Educator - Hocking County, 4-H
Department: FAES | Fairfield County. This position is located in Logan, OH. The Ohio State University Extension seeks an Educator to work collaboratively with county, region and state teams of Extension professionals and with local agency leaders and volunteers. This includes implementing and supporting a comprehensive volunteer system through identification, selection, orientation, training, utilizing, recognizing, and evaluating of adult and youth volunteers to support local 4-H delivery methods (e.g. community clubs, after-school clubs, camps, school enrichment, etc.).
ResponsibilitiesThe Educator will be responsible for a broad range of duties that could include but are not limited to:
- Provide guidance and/or leadership for 4-H Youth Development programming targeted to local and regional needs.
- Utilize appropriate methods, both formal and informal, of community assessment to identify educational needs and opportunities of the local community.
- Design, implement and teach educational programming, based on identified needs, to groups and individuals comprised of adults and/or youth.
- Design and implement a resident and/or day camp program in collaboration with teen camp counselors and adult staff.
- Work with the county junior and senior fair boards in supporting the county fair.
- Replicate and adhere to existing youth programs that meet local community needs.
- Plan and conduct local and area educational events to increase 4-H members’ subject matter knowledge and to build leadership, citizenship, and life skills.
- Develop promotional material, lead committees and volunteers, and establish and maintain community partnerships to support program goals.
- Evaluate educational programs and dissemination methods using existing evaluation instruments to assess teaching effectiveness, program quality and results.
- Participate in discussions with county representatives concerning program funding; may be responsible for securing external funds to support local programming.
- Participate as a member of county, multi-county, and/or state Extension teams to support the mission, vision and values of Ohio State University Extension and 4-H.
The Educator evaluates educational programs and dissemination methods, utilizes existing evaluation instruments to evaluate teaching effectiveness and program results, and may be involved in budget discussions and external funding efforts. Participation as a member of county, multi-county, and/or state Extension teams is also expected to support the overall mission, vision and values of Ohio State University Extension and 4-H Youth Development.

- Extension Educator 2 — Requires a Master’s Degree — $47,700 - $62,300
- Extension Educator 3 — Requires a Master’s Degree and 11+ years of direct or related work experience — $55,700 - $72,700
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. 0 years of relevant experience required. 0-2 years of relevant experience preferred.
