Teaches children ages 5-11 cheers and routines, ensures safety, promotes a fun environment, and communicates with parents and participants.

- Teach 5–11 year olds sideline cheers, choreography and prepare them for end-of-season cheer performances.
- Coach the cheer squad in proper techniques to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.
- Choreograph routines for cheer groups to enhance fan involvement at Youth Sports events.
- Attend all required meetings and trainings for professional development.
- Understand physical safety issues of each participant.
- Communicate with parents, participants, and coaches.
- Maintain accurate attendance/improvement records for each participant.
- Set up and tear down program area.
- Exhibit patience, maturity, and dependability.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the site supervisor or head coach.
- Utilize the Rockford Park District's HRIS system for all HR and payroll-related requirements and to accurately clock in and out for all shifts.
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- Good organizational and leadership skills for daily supervision and direction of participants.
- Working technical knowledge of cheerleading and some football.
- Basic knowledge and ability to teach dancing, stunting, tumbling, and cheering.
- Must be prompt and reliable.
- Good communication skills with parents, participants, and coaches.
- Ability to problem solve in a variety of situations.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and demonstrate flexibility as a team player.
- Medium work:
Exerting in excess of 50 pounds of force occasionally;
Exerting in excess of 20 pounds of force frequently;
Exerting in excess of 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- This position is primarily stationed outdoors; regular exposure to dirt, noise, and temperature and weather extremes.
- Ability to work under stressful conditions and problem solve.
- Potential exposure to hazardous materials.
