Field Service Engineer Technician

Basic Function

Work with customers and/or contractor supervision to install new machines and retool projects. Debug and start‑up new machine installation and retool projects, perform service calls on customer machines.

Responsibilities include:

• Understand the work to be done (Performance Plan) and be technically competent.
• Plan own and others’ work to meet schedules and budgets.
• Communicate plan and progress with customer and Ingersoll.
• Perform technical work or supervise others in required tasks.
• Create a good impression of Ingersoll to the customer.
• Maintain a professional, competent, and efficient image and proper conduct in the customer’s plant.
• Instruct customers in operation of installed machines.
• Report market opportunities.

• Must understand all levels of production machine equipment.
• Must be able to direct others and work with the customer.
• Must diagnose machine problems and recommend solutions.
• Verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be technically competent in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic areas.

High school education (or GED) with specialized knowledge obtained through less than one year of education or training on‑the‑job or through other training. Previous completion of R&M Awareness Course required, or completion within one year of job assignment.

Five to ten years experience in a similar field.

Previous machine installation and service work required. Previous supervision experience helpful. Must be willing to travel domestically and internationally.
