Description
General duties and responsibilities:
Reviews patient’s history and documents to make an accurate assessment.Completes nursing assessment, identifying, and documenting patient problems.Assesses nursing home patient historyCheck insurance with scheduling/patient accounts to where procedure can be doneCheck medications and follow-ups per protocolReview and obtain Advance DirectivesObtain copies of medical device cardsAssigns a triage priority to patients concerns based on available informationInitiates diagnostic and therapeutic measures as indicated by standing protocolsActs as a liaison with patients, family and health professionalsCoordinates the needs of the patient with supporting departmentsCharts concisely, descriptively to indicate patients progress or lack of progressManages prescription refills per protocolFollow direction on Recall systemCalls for or looks up test results, notifies patients of results in timely mannerSets up lab appointmentsProvides appropriate patient education as necessaryFollows protocols for disease processFollows up on resources for patient and disease processes. Keeps physician informedAddress patient phone inquiries – responds in timely mannerCompletes physicians’ orders per protocolsSchedules testing at outside facilitiesProfessional education – maintains knowledge base by attending mandatory and regular in-servicesAssists with patient referralsDemonstrates respect and understanding of confidentiality for patients, staff and othersOther duties as assignedGuest Relations:
Demonstrates courteous and cooperative behavior in work setting; maintains good interpersonal relationshipsActively participates in the Quality Assessment programCooperates with other departments for coordinating patient carePrecepts new employeesAssists in implementing unit changesAdapts in changes in assignments and workload as necessitated by staffing changes and patient volumesCooperates with Clinic Supervisor to assure adequate staffingKeeps Clinic Supervisor informed of personnel problemsRequirements
Qualifications:
Graduate of accredited school of nursingCurrent state license to practice as a Registered Nurse or a Licensed Practical Nurse.Experience in GI endoscopy preferred.Member in GI specialty or other local, state or national professional societies encouraged.Organizational skills and attention to detail highly recommendedGood listening skillsMust have good attendanceMaintains Basic Cardiac Life Support certificationEssential Physical Demands:
Position requires full range of motion, frequent, standing, walking and sitting for extended periods of timeRequires visual and hearing activityWORKING CONDITIONS:
Exposure to blood borne pathogens requiring the use of universal precautions and/ or protective equipment.Knowledgeable of potential exposure to hazardous materials (i.e., patient body fluids and disinfectant chemicals).#J-18808-Ljbffr
