Manufacturing Production, Manufacturing Engineer
About The Role
Step into a fast-paced, precision-driven environment where cold forming turns raw material into mission-critical fasteners. You’ll own the set‑up and operation of cold heading equipment — from One Die Two Blow through Four die 4 Blow — enabling complex part formation in a single process where diameter reduction ratios demand multi‑die solutions.
Compensation & Schedule- Hourly range: $25–$35/hour
- Hours:
Monday–Friday, 1:30pm–10:30pm (occasional overtime)
You arrive, review the job packet, and set up the header for the scheduled run. As parts come off the machine, you’re measuring with Calipers, Micrometers, and a Length Gage, confirming conformance before ramping to full speed. Gauges and lights are your early‑warning system; if something drifts, you adjust speeds, pressures, temperatures, and material flow to bring the process back into control.
A jam occurs — you clear it safely, isolate any suspect product, and initiate Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to prevent recurrence. Throughout the shift, you collaborate with your Supervisor to resolve production hiccups and keep quality and throughput on target.
- Continuously monitor materials, machine indicators, and environmental cues to detect and assess issues.
- Gather and interpret information from all relevant sources to maintain stable operations.
- Review ongoing production and partner with the Supervisor to resolve processing problems.
- Inspect equipment, structures, and materials to pinpoint the root cause of defects or errors.
- Adjust machine components to regulate speeds, pressures, temperatures, dimensions, and material flow.
- Activate machinery and process sequences using control panels and buttons.
- Examine, measure, and weigh materials/products to verify standards using Calipers, Micrometers, and a Length Gage.
- Watch machine operations, lights, and gauges to detect malfunctions early.
- Clear jams; remove and segregate defective or substandard parts.
- Apply Root Cause Analysis (RCA) methods to identify and eliminate underlying issues.
- 3–7 years of cold heading experience with proven set‑up capability; fastener industry background preferred.
- Clear, calm communication with Supervisors, peers, and subordinates (in person, phone, email, and written).
- Strong prioritization and organization to execute work efficiently and accurately.
- Familiarity with IATF 16949 requirements.
- Ability to move quickly between tasks with minimal errors/omissions.
- Solid deductive reasoning to apply general rules to solve specific problems.
- Hands‑on skill adjusting machine components for optimal speeds, pressures, temperatures, and dimensions.
- Basic maintenance knowledge for heading equipment.
- Proficiency reading Calipers, Micrometers, and Blue Prints.
- Commitment to OSHA and company safety practices.
Multi‑Die headers enable more complex geometries to be formed in a single process step, overcoming the inherent limits of diameter ratio reductions. Mastering these platforms is key to delivering quality fasteners efficiently.
