Summary

The Electrical Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine inspections, basic maintenance, and repairs on electrical systems related to production and facility equipment, including troubleshooting minor electrical issues, replacing components, and ensuring compliance with electrical codes.

Responsibilities
  • Confer with various manufacturing departments to establish an effective working relationship, thus eliminating potential problems through clear communication.
  • Function as a team member by assisting fellow workers in completing job assignments.
  • Perform reactive, preventative, and predictive maintenance on production equipment and facility equipment.
  • Diagnose and fix minor electrical issues such as faulty switches, outlets, circuit breakers, and lighting malfunctions.
  • Replace worn-out electrical components like fuses, bulbs, ballasts, and small appliance parts.
  • Perform minor repairs on production equipment.
  • Calibration of production tools.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs performed, and any identified issues.
  • Oversee grounds-related projects including lighting, pond, lawn, and snow removal.
  • Operate all power equipment and hand tools.
  • Recommend and perform preventative maintenance on equipment.
  • Actively solve problems and support fellow workers in completing job assignments.
  • Procure and purchase parts when necessary.
  • Conform to environmental management system requirements.
Required

Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of safety, quality, and environmental practices in an industrial manufacturing setting.
  • Understanding of basic electrical principles, including voltage, current, resistance, and circuit analysis.
  • Ability to apply NEC standards.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve electrical problems using test equipment.
  • Familiarity with a variety of electrical tools such as wire strippers, crimpers, voltage testers, and multimeters.
  • Ability to read electrical blueprint schematics.
  • Ability to work with industrial voltages such as 480V 3 phase.
  • Awareness of electrical safety procedures and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Entry-level computer skills.
  • Strong mechanical abilities and ability to select and apply the best methods to complete assignments.
  • Ability to utilize all hand and power tools.
  • Ability to operate larger equipment, including lathe, mill, light construction equipment, and welding/fabrication.
  • Ability to reason and solve practical problems with a variety of variables with limited standardization, and interpret instructions.
  • Strong mathematical abilities.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions; write identifying information and request supplies verbally or in writing.
Education and Experience

High school Diploma or GED; at least 2 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

This position requires frequent reaching with occasional reaching above shoulder heights. May be required to lift up to 30 lbs unassisted throughout the workday. Proper lifting techniques required. This position may also require excellent eyesight to identify colors, depth, and dimension in the day-to-day work of a Maintenance Technician.

Salary:
The budgeted range for this role is $25 USD - $35 USD per hour. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of the desired level of experience for the position. Bergstrom Inc. considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills.
