DescriptionThe Plant HR Manager establishes the tactical & strategic Human Resource leadership at the plant level. This role uses accepted principles & practices of human resource management to contribute to the success of the short & long term business goals. They will be an expert in solving problems and the execution of objectives, while partnering with the plant leadership to support the implementation of company-wide Human Resource projects.
Responsibilities- Understands HR policies & procedures and interprets the intent, spirit, & terms of each team member
- Explains all company & governmental rules, regulations, procedures, & need for compliance to team members
- Counsels management in the application of effective associate relations policies and practices.
- Verifies adherence & day-to-day implementation of policies concerning wages, hours, & working conditions
- Recommend revisions or drafts of new associate relations, policies & procedures as required to HR Director for approval
- Ensures all new & current employees receive necessary training (Gate keeper of all training records/files)
- Monitors staffing requirements for all departments & recruits/hires all levels of personnel for company needs
- Manages separation notices, related documentation, & exit interviews to determine reasons behind all separations
- Prepares reports & recommends procedures to reduce absenteeism/turnover
- Manages new associate orientation to foster positive attitude toward the company goals.
- May represent company at personnel related hearings/investigations & all legal proceedings (EEOC, NLRB, Arbitrations)
- Oversees worker compensation program to minimize costs & coordinate problem areas with insurance carrier
- Responsible for providing specialist industrial relations & public relations services for the facility
- Responsible for all dealings involving Employee Benefits, Unemployment, & Workers Compensation
- Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction
- Directly supervises HR Department team in the following:
- interviewing, hiring, & training associates
- planning, assigning, & directing work
- appraisal performance
- rewarding & disciplining associates
- addressing complaints & resolving problems

- Ability to work onsite in the F-N-G facility in Ionia, MI (relocation assistance provided)
- College Degree/Diploma in a related field preferred but not required
- Must have 5+ yrs. of HR Management/Supervisory experience in an Industrial/Manufacturing setting preferably Automotive
- Strong labor relations knowledge, negotiation skills, & ability to navigate complex legal frameworks
- Strong decision making/problem solving skills with demonstrated internal customer service skills
- Ability to read/analyzes/ interpret professional journals, financial reports, government regulations & legal documents
- Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries/complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, associates, and/or managers
- Strong organizational & multitasking abilities w/ exceptional communication skills (verbal & written)
- Proficiency with computers, database applications, & admin. systems (i.e., Microsoft Office)
