Overview
Responsible for total sanitation, floor care, preparation and organization of patient rooms, floors, bed set-ups, and ancillary areas.
Responsibilities- ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Thorough cleaning of assigned areas including furniture, tile, fixtures, windows, sinks, tubs, toilets, mirrors, showers, etc. Perform high and low dusting of TVs, lights, walls; mop floors; clean door frames, ceiling vents; vacuum carpet, etc. - Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures.
- Observe isolation procedures and Infection Prevention Standards. Knowledgeable on correct chemicals used for different pathogens.
- Maintain EVS closet, EVS cart, and all equipment in a neat and orderly manner. Report safety hazards or equipment in need of repair to supervisor and/or Facilities. Maintain correct amount of supplies. Is knowledgeable on correct chemicals used for different pathogens.
- Replenish paper, soap supplies, hand sanitizer.
- Hang cubicles/drapes according to department policy.
- Special project assignments, including coordinating specifics such as contacting affected departments to advise of upcoming project (e.g., construction projects, wall cleaning, drapes, changing cubicles, window washing), and post informational signs.
- Move furniture, supplies and equipment as requested adhering to departmental safety and lifting procedures. Seek assistance when in doubt.
- Properly mix and store chemicals to achieve correct dilution ratio. Use proper personal protective equipment including safety goggles when needed. Read directions carefully and ask supervisor when in doubt. Use wet floor signs to block off work area.
- Make beds in accordance with specific area needs. Identify various bed types. Utilize bed tracking phone/pager; place bed in EPIC and remove when bed has been completed. Respond to phone/pager call from supervisor within 5 minutes. Report phone/pager problems to supervisor. Log out of EPIC. Ensure dismissal rooms are ready for the next patient. Use Xenex UV Light robot for specified rooms where available.
- Return soiled and clean unused mops to department and place in proper containers/areas.
- Adhere to all applicable regulations and standards.
- Adhere to proper handling, transport and disposal of all waste types, including hazardous, infectious, sharps, confidential, recycling, regular trash, universal. Complete DOT Certification in order to package and transport regulated medical waste. Ask supervisor or lead when in doubt.
High school graduate or equivalent preferred. Previous cleaning experience helpful.

Skills And Abilities- Effectively performs scheduled floor cleaning which includes stripping, scrubbing, finishing, shampooing, and extracting in a timely manner (includes working other shifts for annual floor maintenance) following all unit specific guidelines, giving attention to detailed areas such as baseboards, corners, carpet stains, etc. Clean equipment after use.
- Performs spot cleaning of carpets and carpet bonneting, extraction of carpet, burnishing, and wet/dry vacuum. Operates, understands, and maintains all equipment (extractors, vacuums, wet vac, burnisher, flatbed, etc.) in a safe and professional manner. Clean equipment after use and ensure batteries are charged.

While performing the duties of this job, the partner is regularly required to perform repetitive motions related to standing, walking, fingering, handling, feeling, grasping, pushing, pulling and reaching with hands and arms. The partner is regularly required to sit and talk or hear.
The partner is frequently required to climb (using step stool or ladder), balance and stoop, kneel, twist, bend, crouch, or crawl. The partner is occasionally required to smell. The partner must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently up to 50 pounds, and occasionally up to 100 pounds, and occasionally over 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close, peripheral, distance, and depth perception.

Supervised by EVS Tech 3/Team Leads, Supervisors, Manager and/or Director. Work is performed according to standard practices and procedures with some independent judgment required.
