CLASSIFICATION: EXEMPT
COMPENSATION: $115,000-$125,000

SUMMARY:
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) will oversee the programmatic services for the Medication Assisted Recovery (MAR) Mobile Unit. Deliver compassionate, evidence-based care to individuals with opioid use disorder (OUD) through a mobile MAR unit. This role involves assessment, medication-assisted recovery (MAR), and care coordination services in underserved communities. The NP will work collaboratively with counselors, nurses, and support staff to ensure patient-centered care and regulatory compliance in a mobile setting.
The schedule for this position will include daytime hours Monday-Friday.
- Work Environment &
Schedule:- Primarily field-based; travel to community sites within service region is required.
- Flexible schedule may include carrying out duties on the mobile MAR Unit along with Brick-and-mortar site at our office building.
- Work is performed in a mobile unit with limited space and variable environmental conditions.
- Performs and/or assists with outreach activities designed to educate the general public regarding MAR.
- Attends required meeting and training courses outlined for MAR Program.
- Orders, dispenses, and maintains inventory of Methadone, Naltrexone, and Buprenorphine.
- Completes and documents on the medication log prior to transporting it onto the mobile unit.
- Methadone inventory is prepared daily in accordance with the mapped route and anticipated patient volume.
- Administers methadone and maintains patient logs at each stop.
- Conducts medical assessments for patients with OUD.
- Provides physical examinations of Methadone/Suboxone Treatment for patients on admission and any other times that are deemed necessary for continuity of care.
- Validates addiction diagnosis and the need for treatment for all patients (MAR).
- Provides referrals to all patients for medical services as necessary and follows up with those medical providers when appropriate.
- Manages all Methadone/Suboxone patients dosing from induction phase to detox, as necessary.
- Prescribes and manages Methadone in accordance with federal, state, and agency protocols.
- Monitors treatment response, side effects, and signs of diversion or misuse.
- Maintains accurate and timely documentation in electronic health records (EHR).
- Ensures patient safety and adherence to dosing protocols while operating in mobile settings.
- Provides patient education on MAR, harm reduction and overdose prevention (e.g., naloxone).
- Requests and reviews of laboratory results for MAR patients.
- Collaborates with counselors and support teams to develop integrated treatment plans.
- Participates in case reviews, quality assurance activities and compliance inspections.
- Assists in crisis intervention and referrals for higher levels of care as needed.
- Adhere to DEA, SAMHSA, state and organizational policies for mobile methadone dispensing.
- Participates in the development of policies and procedures for mobile unit operations.
- Maintains licensure and continuing education requirements.
- Performs all job functions consistent with confidentiality regulations, ethical practices and agency polices and mission.

- Meets the requirements transferred to Remedies by State and Federal regulatory and/or funding entities.
- Knowledge of and commitment to the use of modern treatment methods for chemical dependency including a specialty in medication assisted recovery (MAR).
- Evidence of knowledge related to Federal regulations for induction/maintenance phase of Methadone, Naltrexone and Buprenorphine treatment.
- Evidence of knowledge related to Federal regulations for eligibility for take-homes.
- Evidence of knowledge related to Federal regulations for granting exceptions.
- Demonstrates competency in de-escalation process for volatile patients.
- Basic computer skills.
- Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills.
- Skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, staff and the public.
Master’s or Doctorate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
Licensure- Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Full Authority license in the state of IL.
- Must have individual DEA registration number.
- Experience in MAR, specifically Methadone, Naltrexone or Buprenorphine treatment, preferred.
- Familiarity with mobile healthcare delivery is a plus.
Appropriate certification may be a requirement of the position- see above.
