Behavioral Health SAP Counselor (School Program)
Join our mission to transform lives by providing behavioral health services to students in the Rockford Public School District. You will collaborate with school staff and outside treatment providers to support students’ mental health and substance use needs.
Sign‑on bonus available:
- Non‑licensed: $3,000
- Licensed: $4,000
- Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or related field.
- Illinois Certified Addiction Counselor (CADC) or licensed as LSW/LPC in Illinois (or plan to acquire within 2 years).
- Must qualify as a MHP or higher per Illinois Department of Mental Health Rule 132.
- Knowledge of DSM diagnoses, assessment techniques.
- Experience with youth having mental illness and/or substance use disorder preferred.
- Excellent written and oral communication; rapport‑building skills.
- Computer proficiency and experience with electronic health record documentation.
- Valid driver’s license and own transportation.
- Belief in the mission and vision of Rosecrance.
- Work assigned hours, including additional hours as needed.
- Coordinate Student Assistance Programming and adolescent programming with core team and outside providers.
- Provide training to school personnel, students, and parents.
- Assess individual students for behavioral health and substance use needs.
- Serve as a member of the core team with case‑management responsibilities.
- Follow up with students in or completing the program.
- Track and report data for program outcomes.
- Facilitate group and individual support sessions.
- Maintain clinical records per agency policies.
- Lead team meetings for affected clients.
- Perform on‑call duties as directed.
- Assist in public relations and community presentations.
- Develop referral source list.
- Adhere to Rosecrance Corporate Compliance Program and code of conduct.
- Provide exceptional customer service and act as a role model.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
- 8‑hour shifts; 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, Monday‑Friday.
- Onsite at Rockford Public School District.
Base pay depends on education:
- Bachelor’s: $50,835.20 per year
- Master’s (Qualified Mental Health Professional): $57,761.60 per year
Additional pay enhancements:
- Professional Certification (CADC, CRSS, CPS): +$0.72/hour ($1,500 annualized)
- 1st Level Clinical Licensure (LPC/LSW/LMSW): +$0.87/hour ($1,800 annualized)
- 2nd Level Clinical Licensure (LCPC/LCSW/LMHC): starting at +$2.16/hour ($4,500 annualized)
