Position Overview
The Illinois Department of Public Health is seeking a highly motivated individual to perform difficult and complex food safety and dairy inspections, collecting samples, and providing detailed technical reports for supervisory review and approval. Audits Illinois’ dairy producers, dairy processing plants, and bulk milk tankers and haulers that transport, sample and grade fluid milk for quality and safety.

- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college
- Requires prior experience equivalent to three (3) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a public or business organization
- Requires professional certification as a Licensed Environmental Health Practitioner (LEHP)
- Requires four (4) years of experience in the dairy industry and/or regulator field
- Four (4) years of experience in the dairy industry and/or regulator field
- Three (3) years of experience applying knowledge of local, state, and federal environmental health and public health laws and regulations, especially pertaining to dairy operations
- Three (3) years of experience conducting environmental health regulatory assessments and inspections at regulated entities
- Three (3) years of experience in environmental field sampling equipment and testing techniques
- Three (3) years of experience collaborating with local health department staff and other public health partners
- Three (3) years of work experience using Microsoft software products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc
- Requires the ability to travel in the performance of duties
- Requires appropriate, valid driver’s license
- Certain provisions of the revolving door restrictions apply to this position under 5 ILCS 430/5-45. If offered non-State employment during state employment or within one year after ending State employment, employee shall notify the Office of the Executive Inspector General for the Agencies of the Illinois Governor (OEIG) or may be subject to a fine
- This position requires filing a Statement of Economic Interest as described by the Illinois Governmental Ethics Act (5 ILCS 420/4A et seq.).
