Overview
William Charles Electric, part of Mas Tec’s Clean Energy and Infrastructure Group, is in search of a Field Engineer Intern for the Summer of 2026 to support our Rockford, IL office. The Field Engineer Intern will focus on assisting with providing support to the Project Manager and Construction Manager of their assigned project. General responsibilities include assisting with implementation of the project specific Quality Plan, site specific plans, material inventory and receiving.
Travel &
Location:
You can live anywhere in the United States. This is a traveling position encompassing work sites in the assigned project area (Missouri, Indiana, Illinois). We offer designated per diem in addition to base pay to support and help you cover living expenses during the travel.

Responsibilities- Performs field survey work regarding layout and tracking of work activities, utilizing PC based software and GPS station/field equipment.
- Assist with managing project specific quality control records and ensuring that required reporting is accomplished.
- Assist with planning, scheduling, and coordinating to ensure that all required audits/inspections are performed and documented.
- Assist with material inventory and receiving paperwork.
- Assist with final job closeout, as‑builts, job binder creation.
- Assist with subcontractor scheduling and management
- Assist with RFI (Request for Information) submittals
- Extended work hours and weekend work may be required.
- Will provide other duties as assigned.
Education:
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate, four‑year degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
Requirements:
- Comfortable with exposure to dirt, heat and noise
- 100% Project Specific travel is required
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- 24 hours of college credits completed
- Have a basic understanding of the construction industry and accepted business practices

Compensation $20-$21 /hour. This is a temporary position, no company benefits are offered.
