OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES- Be the technical project leader from program kickoff to hardware delivery, working with the program manager to review requirements, communicate technical status to the customer, and execute deliverables on time.
- Contribute to technical areas such as proposal technical responses, conceptual design, CAD modeling, detailed drawings, and analyses.
- Establish and monitor project deliverables, timelines, and costs.
- Hands‑on and willing to work in the shop environment to build prototypes and support production issues.
- Ensuring that the components meet program cost, form fit, and function requirements.
- Provide engineering technical support to assembly and test, suppliers, or customers.
- Ensure products are designed for producibility & manufacturability (DFMA).
- Take concepts, sketches and layouts and translate into solid models and drawings.
- Designing and detailing products through various stages of the product life cycle.
- All other responsibilities assigned by manager.
- BS in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent.
- 8+ years in an applicable work environment; 6+ years with a graduate degree.
- 4+ years leading technical and/or NPD projects.
- Experience designing mechanical components and assemblies including selecting fit for bearings and pins.
- Experience performing trade studies, tolerance studies, thermal and structural analyses.
- Knowledge of Aerospace Military and Commercial Aerospace design requirements.
- Knowledge of certification/qualification testing per DO‑160 and/or MIL‑STD‑810.
- CAD experience with Solid Works, Catia or similar CAD packages.
- Experience with Microsoft Office.
- Good analytical and mathematical background.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and methods.
- Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) (ANSI Y14.5M).
- U.S. Citizen, no dual citizenship allowed.
- Aerospace and motion control experience.
- Knowledge of AS9100.
- Knowledge of setting up Solid Works Enterprise PDM workflows.
- Knowledge of design for harsh environments is a plus.
- Knowledge of motors, sensors, open and closed loop control system applications.
- Standard office environment; occasional exposure to manufacturing plant noise/temperature, requiring PPE.
- Frequent speaking, listening, and computer use.
- Vision requirements include depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
