We are seeking an Engineer I to join our team in Rockford, where you’ll play a key role in designing and developing cutting‑edge integrated systems and subsystems for military and commercial aircraft.

In this role, you will be responsible for the design and development of integrated Systems/Subsystems that include electronic controls and rotating hardware used in electric systems for military and commercial aircraft. You will apply principles and techniques of electrical/electronic engineering to ensure design preparation is in accordance with applicable specifications, customer requirements and standard work practices; you will interface with various functional groups to coordinate design and engineering documentation releases, development testing, qualification testing, and entry into service.

You will also have the opportunity to define and prepare test procedures, document results of design studies, trade studies, and failure analyses.

What You Will Do:
  • Interface with customers, project teams, chief engineers, and program offices to ensure effective communication and alignment throughout the project.
  • Manage and decompose requirements, and ensure proper flow down to various systems and components.
  • Contribute to both preliminary and detailed design phases, ensuring designs meet program requirements and customer specifications.
  • Conduct development and qualification testing to validate system performance.
  • Generate system and LRU (Line Replaceable Unit) requirements documents.
  • Create and integrate controller models using MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Perform electric system load analysis.
  • Validate high‑level requirements and conduct testing on desktop simulations.
  • Establish verification methodologies to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Coordinate test facility requirements and support test planning.
  • Oversee system integration and subsystem‑level testing in development test facilities.
  • Support aircraft and customer lab testing as required.
  • Execute system engineering standard work (SW) and processes.
  • Provide technical assistance to the manufacturing team as needed.

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Requires a Master’s degree and 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships).

Qualifications We Prefer:

Preferred experience in System engineering Aircraft Electric Power System design (generation, distribution, communications, or BITE) with experience in requirements generation, requirements validation, requirements management, simulation development, system verification planning, and system testing.
