Join Our Team as an On-Site Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) in Rockford, IL for K-12 students. E-Therapy is hiring a dedicated TVI to support students with visual impairments in PreK-12 schools. This is a full-time, on-site role with ASAP start for the 2025/2026 school year.

- Conduct assessments of students' functional vision, visual functioning, and educational needs to develop IEPs and instructional goals.
- Provide direct instruction and support in braille literacy, adaptive technology, orientation and mobility, and daily living skills.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and related service providers to adapt curriculum materials and instructional strategies for students with visual impairments.
- Teach compensatory skills to enhance independence and participation in educational activities.
- Utilize assistive technology and adaptive equipment to facilitate access to the curriculum and independence in the classroom and school environment.
- Provide consultation and training to school staff, parents, and caregivers on strategies for supporting students with visual impairments in educational and social settings.
- Monitor progress, collect data on skill acquisition, and adjust instruction to promote optimal outcomes.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of student progress, assessment results, instructional plans, and family/educational team communication.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education of the Visually Impaired or Special Education with a focus on visual impairments.
- Current state licensure or certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI).
- Proficiency in braille literacy, including knowledge of braille code, instruction, and assessment.
- Strong understanding of visual impairments, including low vision and blindness, and their impact on learning.
- Experience working with students with visual impairments in educational settings (PreK-12 preferred).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate with students, families, school staff, and related service providers.
- Proficiency in assessment, curriculum adaptation, and instructional strategies for students with visual impairments.
- Experience with assistive technology and adaptive equipment for individuals with visual impairments (preferred).

Physical Requirements (Working in a School Setting)While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and move around in the school facility. The employee must be able to communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents verbally and in writing. The employee may need to lift or move objects up to 25 pounds and may occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee should have the stamina to supervise and engage with students throughout the school day.
