Job Details
• Night shift position, 12-hour shifts (7p-7a) with self-scheduling,
• 2 weekends per month required,
• If covering holidays, 2 holidays are required,
• On-call is not currently required, though this may change based on departmental needs,
• Unit includes 3 LDR rooms, 5 postpartum rooms, 4 triage rooms, a recovery area, and an OR suite,
• Staffing ratios follow AWHONN guidelines,
• Responsibilities span labor and delivery, antepartum, postpartum, and special care nursery,
• Patient cases include vaginal and cesarean deliveries, antepartum care, and well newborn and special care nursery care,
• Special care nursery cases may include newborn stabilization, CPAP, PIV access, IV fluids and antibiotics, hyperbilirubinemia, and hypoglycemia management,
• Equipment includes computerized charting, Pyxis, central electronic fetal monitoring, and Alaris IV smart pumps,
• Occasional floating to the medical floor or ER may be required to assist with basic tasks only - no patient load taken on those units,
Job Requirements
• Active WY state or compact RN license required,
• Current certifications required: BLS, NRP, and Intermediate AWHONN,
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in L&D, postpartum, and special care nursery,
• 2 references required for consideration: 1 from a supervisor within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and 1 from a peer or supervisor in the specialty within the last 3 years,
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position,
Additional Information
• Responsibilities include providing RN care for laboring patients including antepartum care, vaginal and cesarean deliveries, and immediate postdelivery care,
• Newborn care responsibilities include NRP resuscitation, initial stabilization, breastfeeding support, CPAP, medication administration, and stabilization for transport to a tertiary care center,
• Two-day orientation provided covering the EMR system, workflow processes, and supplies,
• Scrubs are provided by the facility,
• No visible tattoos; body jewelry must be removed during working hours, with the exception of ear lobe studs,
• Travelers are always scheduled alongside other staff members
