IMEG is hiring a Civil Project Designer in Rock Island, IL, to lead design efforts as a project manager or lead engineer for low to moderate complexity civil projects. In this role, you’ll collaborate with senior staff and a broader team of engineers and consultants to deliver engineering solutions that support positive client outcomes while meeting project goals and expectations.
Direct and train Civil Design Technicians in completing reports, exhibits, plans and specifications, and permit applications per the project’s contractual scope.
Lead civil site design analysis efforts for low to moderate complexity projects (commercial, residential, industrial, etc.).
Utilize engineering software and tools to create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations according to code requirements and IMEG standards.
Complete and oversee permit applications in coordination with the project team, client, and reviewing jurisdiction.
Support projects through bidding and construction administration.
Partner with clients to gather requirements, communicate technical information effectively, and maintain strong professional relationships.
Lead project planning, budgeting, and scheduling tasks to meet deadlines and objectives.
Document design decisions and client instructions, and monitor design progress related to percent complete and fee expended.
Analyze engineering problems and propose solutions in collaboration with senior engineers and consultants.
Prioritize safety and regulatory compliance, including interpreting and applying state and local design criteria to project needs.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions and identify potential project issues, seeking guidance from the Project Manager as needed.
Required Qualifications and Skills- Knowledge of industry standard engineering software, primarily Civil 3D
- Proficient with pipe networking and road corridors.
- Proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications.
- Strong technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles in the civil engineering field.
- Ability to train and mentor less experienced staff.
- Able to lead teams with others that utilize industry standard software that assists with civil engineering analysis and design.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups. - Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Attention to detail and problem‑solving skills.
- Eagerness to adapt to new challenges.
- Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to travel up to 10% with occasional overnight stays.
- Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent required.
- 3 years of experience minimum required, 4 preferred, in the building design consulting industry.
- OR
- Associates degree, or certificate, in utilizing Autodesk Civil 3D or equivalent software tools or engineering preferred.
- 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting or construction industry.
